Xybernaut®, SCOTTeVEST™ LLC and Technology Enabled Clothing™ LLC Announce Joint Marketing Agreement

Fashion and Function Combine as Solutions are Demonstrated During International Conference on Wearable Computing

FAIRFAX, VA, and CHICAGO, IL, March 6, 2002 — The leading developers of wearable computing, Xybernaut, and the leader in innovative clothing for technology, SCOTTeVEST LLC and Technology Enabled Clothing™ LLC today announced a joint marketing and education agreement to promote public awareness of wearable computing technologies and apparel that work together fashionably and functionally.

The agreement among Xybernaut Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR), Technology Enabled Clothing™ (TEC) LLC and SCOTTeVEST™ LLC was announced today during the 7th annual International Conference on Wearable Computing (ICWC) at COMDEX Chicago.

The agreement includes joint marketing and cross-promotion activities related to Xybernaut's award-winning poma™ wearable computer and TEC's SCOTTeVEST™ Version 2.0, the latest generation of clothing designed for use with a variety of computing and communication devices. Xybernaut recently began shipping the poma to the consumer market. SCOTTeVEST™ also recently began shipping Version 2.0 to the public.

Representatives from both companies formally launched the agreement at the ICWC by wearing pomas incorporated into the SCOTTeVEST™ clothing. These integrated units are also being worn during this week's ICWC event to perform many tasks including attendee registration (queue-busting), roving research on the show floor, on-site coordination and various other types of data gathering among attendees, exhibitors and presenters.

"Though wearable computing and related technologies are already accepted as part of enterprise computing, we are constantly looking for the best way to meet each customer's unique needs," stated Edward G. Newman, Chairman, President and CEO of Xybernaut. "Apparel that integrates wiring, includes ample room for accessories, and promotes greater user comfort is a logical next step for more wide-scale adoption of wearable computing devices. This agreement was forged to accentuate common ground that is addressed by wearable computers and technology enabled clothing."

Both companies will work to educate the public and industry leaders about the unique impact that Xybernaut wearable computers and TEC solutions can have on organizations and individuals in their everyday lives.

"This relationship will help to further educate the public about the benefits of wearable computers and their application to everyday tasks," According to Scott Jordan, CEO of Technology Enabled Clothing LLC. "This is no longer a discussion for the future. Our combined skill sets, patented concepts and products are being combined to create real solutions that are now a reality. My design team and I look forward to working closely with Xybernaut on developing many innovative TEC solutions to support wearable computers."

Mr. Jordan will be participating with Xybernaut and other industry executives in the panel discussion, Going Mobile: Components of a Wearable Computing Solution on Wednesday, March 6 during the ICWC event.

A number of industry analysts have stated that the potential market for wearable and mobile computing technologies is expected to grow rapidly in the coming decade. The Gartner Group recently (October 8, 2001) stated that wearable computing is one of four key emerging technology trends for the next decade.

Previously, the Gartner Group also mentioned in an April 17, 2001 Research Note, Wearing it Out: The Growth of the Wireless, Wearable World, "By 2007, more than 60 percent of the European Union and U.S. populations aged 15 to 50 will carry or wear a wireless computing and communications device at least six hours a day." The report also emphasizes a dramatic increase to 75 percent of these populations by 2010.
