You MUST be a details person, a fast learner and capable of working independently. If this does not accurately describe you, please don't apply for this position... you will not excel or enjoy this job unless you live for the details and can take a task and run with it! We really can't stress this point enough. If you want a multi-faceted career at a rapidly growing marketing organization, this is the ideal job to dive into.

You will preferably have, or will need to quickly learn, the following:

  • Technical skills: be generally tech-savvy; adept at Outlook, Google mail, calendar, docs, and basics of time-tracking/project management software (like Harvest, Sharepoint or Base Camp); must know and use Skype; intermediate HTML coding (be able to read/understand and edit, but coding from scratch is not required); experience with Google Analytics a big plus
  • Communication skills: quick and accurate communication with a high email volume; understand basics of social media; stay on top of ongoing projects for multiple team members and report progress
  • Logic skills: apply blanket rules to multiple situations to determine your course of action; be able to work independently
  • Writing and Proofreading skills: we need a great writer who can write with purpose - press releases, website copy, etc.; great speller; good grammar; ability to proofread and notice small mistakes and inconsistencies in data
  • Basic Photoshop (or similar) skills: simple cropping; adding/deleting text, etc.
  • Good Eye: understand visual balance; how colors come together; notice elements that are out of place; able to take a decent photo, etc.
  • Creativity is always a plus, but not a core requirement of the job. We will never discourage creativity and collaboration.

General Tasks:

  • Set up and deploy email marketing campaigns
  • Coordinate spreadsheets and calendars with the Production department to ensure graphics are provided on time
  • Coordinate our media advertising calendar: proofread and test landing pages, set up promo codes, ensure pages are set up on time and correctly, communicate information to Customer Service

  • Coordinate tasks and track progress towards their completion for the Marketing Team
  • Prepare metrics dashboards for the Marketing Team and update data on a set schedule and on demand
  • Review and approve (or reject) product reviews
  • Review sample and media requests and reject or approve based on set criteria
  • Launch email marketing campaigns and manage 'back in stock' emails, build and deploy weekly newsletters

Video Storyteller/Shooter/Editor/Motion Graphics w/Great Sense of Humor - Relocation Required (Sun Valley, ID)
We are SCOTTEVEST (www.scottevest.com), a clothing line famous for our tons of hidden pockets, and we are currently in a major growth phase! Even better... we're based in Sun Valley, Idaho (ski, snowboard and summer haven!). This position is based in Sun Valley, so if you're not familiar with SV and willing to relocate, read no further.

We are seeking a hilarious storyteller to join our in-house marketing team. The medium for these "stories" is video, and you will be responsible for scripting, setting up, shooting, editing and motion graphics... but while the technical skills are vital to succeeding, the mindset and talent for crafting a story is even more important. This is a very fast-paced position at a quickly growing company, and you will be joining a close-knit team who already knows the lay of the land. You MUST have a great sense of humor (and it can't just be your Mom who thinks so), be organized, creative, a fast worker and a fast learner. We appreciate the art of filmmaking, but our goals are brand and marketing driven, and we're not looking to craft artistic masterpieces (well, maybe a few). Videos will range from down-and-dirty one take videos (slap on an intro/outro > render > post) to teleprompter driven product demos with b-roll, cutaways and VO to behind-the-scenes documentary/mockumentary filming of office antics. Fair warning: we shoot A LOT on greenscreen, and although we have a pretty sweet studio setup, if you can't key cleanly and quickly you will not do well here. 99% of what we shoot is for the web, so be up on encoding, youtube posting, etc. End goal: put out videos that people NEED to pass around to all their friends... viral.

    You will need the following:

    Mindset

    • Impeccable sense of comedic timing and a GREAT sense of humor. We push the envelope - and sometimes cross the line - but that is not our focus. Infusing edgy humor without alienating shoppers is the goal.
    • Ability to take loose direction and run with it.
    • Have a knack for ingesting content and picking out key scenes to include in a polished presentation.
    • Ability to take critique and implement changes based on it. We move too fast for "compliment sandwiches" so you will need a thick skin and know that critiques are meant to achieve the ultimate goal.
    • Great work ethic. Life doesn't just happen 9-5, so there needs to be some flex in your schedule.
    • We need you to be organized at your core, not just as something you do to files. Mental organization and the ability to think things through to their logical conclusion is critical; file organization flows from that.
    • Sense of urgency. We move very fast and you need to keep up.
    • Be a communicator - we do a lot through email, and you need to be able to do so as well.

    Skills

    • Expertise in Mac editing suites from iMovie to Final Cut (Express or Pro), Live Type and After Effects/motion graphics.
    • HD filming is ~50% of the job. We have a variety of equipment, a lot of it high-end consumer or pro grade.
    • Motion graphics (and/or graphic design) experience is preferable, as well as a cool aesthetic. If you don't know motion graphics and adding text, etc. brush up on those skills.
    • Lighting experience is critical. You don't need to have awards for it, but as stated we use greenscreen a lot and it doesn't work without great lighting. We have the gear.Great work ethic. Life doesn't just happen 9-5, so there needs to be some flex in your schedule.
    • Still photography skills (products, people) are a MAJOR plus.
    • Bottom line: be well rounded. Creative brainstorming, basic scripting, know story structure inside and out, be able to light, set up basic sound, shoot, edit, render, post. Regardless of the tools, you need to be able to put together a logical, funny story from a variety of materials.

Some of Our Work and things we like (we have 1000+ videos on Youtube, so this is a very small selection)

Next step? Send us something that will make us laugh. A lot. Your portfolio/reel is more important than your resume, but send both along with a quick cover letter/note about why you are the right person for the job and your role for each production in your reel. Bonus points if that makes us laugh, too... but if we're laughing at your resume, well, that's probably not good. We are looking to fill this position immediately and have a backlog of projects to be completed, so don't delay. This can start off as project based and then evolve into fulltime.

    Public Relations Coordinator
Run our PR program from end to end, including strategy, media outreach, responding to media inquiries, management of copywriter(s) and/or writing press releases. Provide fresh ideas and experienced management of PR-based brand awareness building programs for online, print and TV media. Scottevest actively engages and promotes new products and unique clothing technologies broadly to the public. Your knowledge of web methodologies and social media, trade shows, print, and other measures to build brand and product awareness by generating buzz leading to significant press placements is necessary. A Bachelor's Degree and five or more years of demonstrated experience with PR including marketing, writing, and advertising in an E-commerce industry is required.

Please send your resume, cover letter and salary requirements to jobs@scottevest.com.

Along with your resume, please send us a cover letter specifying your salary requirement and desire to live in Ketchum, Idaho. In your cover letter, please identify 1-2 things about our website that strike you as good and/or bad, and tell us why in a brief sentence. We look forward to hearing from you!

    • Design for print (including magazine advertising)

    • 3D rendering

It would be ideal if you can design/build sophisticated web pages using CSS, HTML, MySQL, HTML5, etc. but if your other skills are good enough this may not be an absolute requirement. In any case, you MUST have a working knowledge of design and development for web... we are primarily an online retailer.

    • Illustrator
    • Flash (mostly animation & some actionscript)
