Vestimonial of the Month

"On our remote broadcasts, our entire team uses our SCOTTeVESTs. We were even able to conveniently conceal our mic and headphone cables while conducting interviews. And going through the increased airport security was a breeze. We just took 'em off and slid them through the x-ray machines. I'll be wearing my SCOTTeVEST ... Into Tomorrow!

New Contest:
  Video Vestimonials:
Since so many people have requested more pictures and videos showing the SCOTTeVEST, we are offering a free SCOTTeVEST for any really cool (we decide) Video VestimonialsTM we feature on the Web site. These should show you in your eVEST describing the features, having fun with your eVEST (well, not TOO much fun), etc. We'll accept Video Vestimonials from non-owners too. Be creative and have fun. Videos should be in a standard format like Windows Media or Quicktime. Please send them to video@scottevest.com, and if we use it on the website we will give you a free SCOTTeVEST. If the video is more than 2MB, please submit a PC-formatted CD (sorry, we can't return it, so keep a copy for yourself!). By submitting the video, you authorize us to use it on our Web site and any other media outlets.

NEW LARGER SIZES!
Due to some suggestions on our sizes, we have made our larger sizes larger. We will be phasing our new sizes into future versions, but for now Black Version 2.0 sizes are shown here. Please note that we have only a very limited supply of these in Version 2.0 Black; so get your order in soon if you've been waiting for larger sizes.

IBM Orders SCOTTeVEST to Change Logo

SeV | IBM Logos: Similarities are Coincidental! You will soon be noticing a minor change to our logo. IBM (GOLIATH) threatened to sue SCOTTeVEST for our use of "e" in our logo because they claim that our logo will confuse people. They are concerned that people will mistakenly think that SCOTTeVEST is associated with IBM's eBusiness Solutions division. For the record, we have no intention of going into that line of business. I know what you're thinking, "this is ridiculous," and our lawyers agree, but rather than fighting IBM on something this stupid, we agreed to slowly phase in our new logo. As an ex-lawyer, I sympathize with other business people who have to deal with silly legal claims like this. If you have an opinion on this, please let me know your thoughts by emailing me at ibm@scottevest.com.

Too Sexy? Did we go too far?
Point/Counter-Point: You Decide

Detroit Free Press: Bad Guysvs.Channel Business: Good Guys

SHE'S SO HOT!!We have received many comments about our use of Miss Rebecca Scott, Playboy Playmate August 99. About 99.9% of the feedback is positive. The .1% however is the most vocal. Recently Mike Wendland, the Detroit Free Press' technology reporter, opined in his column, "I'm abandoning my eVEST because of the exploitive advertising tactics used to promote it."

Mr. Wendland came to this conclusion after admitting that: "It's been great at airports. I loaded the pockets up with all my gadgets and gizmos and then tossed the eVEST on the security belt, instead of having to remove everything item by item and put them in those cumbersome plastic trays. I really appreciated wearing my eVEST during mountain bike rides as a windbreaker because I could securely and comfortably carry a cell phone in case I took a tumble and needed help on a remote trail. [T]he eVEST was never too warm, even after exercise."

This conclusion is in sharp contrast to Rob Blackstien's. In a recent article in Channel Business, Mr. Blackstien applauded SeV's tactics. He has this to say about the so-called sexy promotion: "Wow. Suddenly, techie dweebs of the world were shedding their propeller caps and donning SCOTTeVESTs, and the next thing you knew, former Playboy bunnies wanted to have their picture taken with them." HOLLYWOOD LOVES THE SCOTTeVEST

Is the SCOTTeVEST Version 2.0s-Sport too Hot for Summer?

Don't make fun of the model; I work cheap. We have been inundated with questions about the use of the brand new VERSION 2.0s-Sport SCOTTeVEST. Most people are concerned whether buying a vest/jacket in the summer makes sense. I want to ride my bicycleThe answer is YES! That's precisely why we introduced the Sport (also called Summer) Version. It is made of a hi-tek lightweight, water repellent material similar to most windbreakers. It has plenty of ventilation points and is machine washable. With the sleeves off, it is especially comfortable in almost all climates. It is not only perfect for the office, but can be used for biking, golfing, hiking, etc. Let's face it, like it or not, we are carrying our cellphones and PDA's with us (or would if we could) during these activities. It's also a perfect place to store other stuff, e.g., water bottles, golf tees, wallet, MP3/CD player, keys, etc.

Another great add-on is the water hydration systems from Camelbak and related companies. You can easily put the water pouch in your back pocket and run the "straw" through the conduit system. Heat is a state of mind, anyway. So, put on your eVEST, think cool, and all will be A-OK. Remember we do offer a 14-day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied, so give it a try.

Some limitations apply, like (a) no spamming, (b) only major publications and Web sites apply (not school newspapers or smaller websites), (c) does not apply to any press that we have already received or work in progress, and (d) you must be the catalyst of the coverage as verified by the reporter. The first person who gets a favorable post on Slashdot gets a prototype of the next version for free (limited sizes available).
