'TEC' trademarked!

Status is significant milestone in company's history

Chicago - August, 2003 - Technology Enabled Clothing LLC (TEC), the parent company of SCOTTeVEST LLC (SeV) and makers of the world renowned line of eVESTs that combine technology and futuristic garments, has announced it has been awarded registered trademark status for the term 'technology enabled clothing.'

This significant achievement falls in line with the company's goal to continue to drive more widespread adoption of its technology through various licensing initiatives. Through the legal protection of its proprietary technology, TEC expects to capture a greater share of the market of technology-driven garments by licensing the right to third party vendors to incorporate into their garments TEC's unique Personal Area Network (PAN) system designed to allow users to connect electronic devices to each other and to headsets, using a hidden conduit system.

"Today's announcement is a significant step in acknowledging the proprietary nature of our innovations," says TEC President/CEO Scott Jordan. "This is the first phase of our strategy to become more of a licensing and consulting company."

TEC has already made enormous strides in the licensing of its technology. Earlier this spring at Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) Wireless 2003 show, TEC demonstrated the next generation SCOTTeVEST - code-named Version X, which will include high tech engineering firm Foster-Miller Inc.'s built-in textile electronic network. Additionally, last year TEC signed a deal with developer of wearable computers Xybernaut to incorporate Xybernaut's poma wearable computer into the SCOTTeVEST. In the future, TEC will offer even more consulting services to assist garment firms that are seeking high tech solutions for their customers.

Jordan says the shift to becoming more of a licensing and consulting firm makes sense based on the numbers. "According to Gartner Research, by 2007, more than 60 per cent of the European Union and U.S. population aged 15 to 50 will carry or wear a wireless computing and communications device at least six hours a day. It will be over 75 per cent by 2010," he says. "How can one company capitalize on that market by itself? That's why we'll be allowing third parties to use our technology to help meet the needs of this wave."

This trend has not been lost on the business community, which clearly recognizes TEC as a leader in this industry. Giga Information Group recently concluded that the SeV "can provide value for enterprise applications ..." and that it is "very appealing as a more personal way to carry technology and keep it easily accessible ... with a high utility for travelers." Additionally, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week and Investor's Daily have all praised TEC's SCOTTeVEST as an innovative creation.

TEC also announced that it's in the process of gaining legal protection for other facets of its business, including the terms: SCOTTeVEST, Personal Area Network and Pocket-in-Pocket, among others.
