SCOTTEVEST INC. (SeV), and its wholly owned affiliate, TEC-Technology Enabled Clothing, Inc.("TEC"), were formed in 2000 to address the needs of the consumer’s digital lifestyle. SeV is the only company with a full range of clothing designed to accommodate electronic devices and their wires. According to AP News, the industry representing the convergence of clothing and technology is expected to be worth more than $7 Billion within 8 years. This market is driven in part by the overwhelming success of Apple’s iPod® with over $1 Billion in accessories sold annually, as well as the proliferation of other electronic devices, such as cell phones, PDA’s, cameras, etc.

TEC is the only company with a utility patent (Patent No. RE 40,613) covering the incorporation of third party wires into clothing. As such, SeV is poised to capture and maintain a significant part of this growing market either by direct sales or through licensing opportunities.

SeV was formed in 2000 to solve a problem: How do you carry all your electronic devices and other items in a manner that allows you to use them? SeV’s products allow you to both carry and use electronic devices, as well as other items such as keys, water bottles, eye glasses, etc. The Company’s patented Technology Enabled Clothing–TEC® system manages the wires associated with MP3 players, cell phones and similar devices using a versatile wire management system. The patented solution is completely invisible from the exterior of the garment. As a result, the end-user does not have to sacrifice fashion sense or buy any expensive equipment to enjoy a gadget that he/she already owns.

Moreover, SeV’s products have many other unique features that make carrying your devices easier, including magnetic closures for pockets, ergonomically designed pockets, Weight Management Systems™ to balance the weight from these added devices, among other things. The need for a successful "man-purse” is not new. Companies have been attempting to solve this problem for some time, with little success. The recent proliferation of electronic devices and their wires has only compounded this problem. We believe merging technology, apparel, and backpacks, marketed as the ultimate Gear Management Solutions™ using our patented and unique features is the answer.

SeV intends to license its intellectual property and its immediately recognizable registered brand name, TEC-Technology Enabled Clothing®, to select companies similar to the way other third party brands, e.g., GoreTex®, Teflon®, Velcro®, Coolmax®, etc., are applied to garments.

Consider the following facts:

  • Twenty percent of Americans over the age of 12 now own portable MP3 Players. This marks a significant increase over ownership levels found one year ago (15%), and nearly double the proportion of owners found in April 2003 (11%). Click here to read more.

  • According to Trendscape 2004, mobile executives regularly carry up to 10 pounds of tech tools. The book identifies "e-wear” as a macro-economic trend to watch in the coming decade. It declares: "With more people toting notebook computers, PDA’s, mobile phones, and maybe digicams or MP3 players, they have two choices: use a photographer style "gadget bag” or stow their gear in available pockets. "But tradition clothing is not designed for bulky gear….” The textbook goes on to endorse SCOTTEVEST/ SeV as a viable solution to this ever increasing problem.
