1. What is SCOTTEVEST all about? Where do I start?

Here at SCOTTEVEST, we are all about providing you the coolest garments with A LOT of pockets! We encourage you to get a feel for us by viewing our About SCOTTEVEST page. Hopefully, it will give you an idea of who we are, where we have come from, and where we are going!

2. What makes SCOTTEVEST different from other clothing?

Pockets, pockets, pockets!

In the beginning (2000), Scott got tired of not being able to carry around all his gear (and his wife, Laura, got tired of carrying it for him), so he designed his own vest with lots of pockets for all of his gadgets. Today, we offer over 40 unique garments offering as many as FORTY-TWO pockets in a single product.

3. How warm are SCOTTEVEST products?
Warmth can be highly subjective (we have some customers that feel overdressed in shorts and sandals in 30 degree F weather!), but we have created a handy Temperature Continuum Chart based on how warm we feel our garments are.

4. What size should I get?
The best way to make certain you are getting the best size for your shape is to check out our Sizing Chart and scroll down until you see the Garment Measurements. The Sizing Chart is located directly above the ADD TO CART button on the right-hand side of any product page, and the Garment Measurements show you the EXACT dimensions for any of our garments. Remember, especially if you’re choosing a jacket, you want to leave at least 2’’ extra room across the chest and waist so you’ll be able to both comfortably stuff your pockets full and wear clothing underneath.

5. Do I have to take everything out of my pockets to go through airport security?
Nope! That’s the magic of SCOTTEVEST garments. Just slip off your jacket or vest (make sure all your pockets are zipped up securely!), lay it on the conveyor belt beside your shoes, and walk on through the metal detector. You can pick up your jacket or vest on the other side and easily slip it back on!

6. I have a pacemaker. Do all SCOTTEVEST products have magnets? Can I still wear your products?
These magnets in our products help keep pockets closed (or convertible sleeves attached) and are a favored feature for many of our customers. Magnets (like the magnetic fields from cell phones) may potentially interfere with pacemakers and similar medical devices. Although we have experienced no reported issues regarding this matter, if you have a pacemaker or similar medical device and choose to wear a product with magnets, you do so at your own risk.  We assume no liability for injury due to a possible malfunction of any medical device.  Contact your physician for additional information and specific questions relating to magnets and your pacemaker or medical device.

7. Will the magnets harm my credit cards or electronic devices?
We have tested our magnets on credit cards and memory cards both, and we have not experienced any issues with them.

However, we have had a few isolated reports of hotel room keys with a magnetic strip being erased by placing them in the same pocket with the magnetic closures, so please make sure to place your hotel room keys away from the magnets in your SCOTTEVEST just in case!

8. How should I wash my SCOTTEVEST?
Washing instructions for all of our garments vary (for example, the fashionable SeV Sport Coat is Dry Clean ONLY). Most of our garments can be washed in cold water and tumble-dry on low heat. Do not dry any products that feature the ClearTouch Pocket in a commercial dryer.

Questions About Shipping:

1. How much is shipping?
Shipping prices for domestic orders (orders with a shipping address in the US), you can see a chart right here: SeV | Shipping Information. The shipping chart will show you the cost for UPS Ground Shipping plus the cost for any of our expedited shipping options.

Shipping prices for international orders (orders with a shipping address outside the US), the best way to find the EXACT shipping costs will be to go ahead and go through the process of placing your order. After you place the exact items you want in your cart and enter in your billing and shipping addresses, you will see our Shipping & Payment Methods page - from here, there will be a drop-down menu showing exactly how much shipping may be. (We’re sorry we can’t offer our international customers a handy chart as well, but international shipping costs vary based on exact location and the items chosen).

For our international customers, please note that because our garments are made overseas, they are not covered by NAFTA and customs fees will apply. We do not (unfortunately) have any control over how much customs may be for your country, so if you would like an idea of how much customs may be, please contact your local post office or customs office for an estimate.

2. When will my order arrive?
Orders placed before 11am MST Monday through Friday will ship out the same day (transit times officially start the day after pickup). Orders placed after 11am MST Monday through Friday or over the weekend will ship out the next business day.

Our domestic shipping options include:
UPS Ground (1 to 5 business days in transit)
3 Day Select (3 business days in transit)
2nd Day Air (2 business days in transit)
Next Day Air Saver (1 full business day in transit)
Next Day Air (should arrive by noon the next business day after it ships!)

Our international shipping options include:
USPS Priority (generally takes 6 to 10 business days to arrive to customs)
USPS Express (generally takes 3 to 5 business days to arrive to customs)
UPS Worldwide Expedited (generally takes 2 to 5 business days to arrive to customs)
UPS Worldwide Express (generally takes 1 to 3 business days to arrive to customs)

Although international orders shipped via UPS generally arrive to customs faster, please keep in mind the customs fees are usually MUCH more expensive for orders shipped via UPS than they are for orders shipped via USPS!

3. Why is international shipping more than domestic?
Unfortunately, UPS doesn’t offer us the same deals to ship internationally as they do for us to ship to domestic addresses within the US. The shipping prices we offer for domestic or international are a reflection of the very best deals we have been able to get from UPS (or USPS).

Unfortunately, if your country is not listed, our shippers have indicated we are unable to ship OR bill to that country as it is a potential risk (either for orders being delivered or fraud). However, we have had some international customers from countries not listed successfully place an order using their Amazon account at checkout (please note: if you do choose to checkout using your Amazon account, we are unable to apply promo codes to orders placed using this account - we are sorry about this! Amazon just will not allow the promo codes to transfer over).

5. Do you ship to APO addresses?
Yes, we offer shipping to military addresses. When entering your shipping address, select US Military-APO for the "country." We take our military orders to the post office and ship them via USPS on a regular schedule.

6. Do any stores sell SCOTTEVEST?
Yes, they do! We have a select list of retailers who sell our products. Although not all of our resellers offer all our items that are online (some of our garments are available exclusively on our site). You can get a good idea of the quality and fit of our products by trying them on in store. For a comprehensive list (and to see if there are any resellers available in your area), check out our Store Locator.

You will be able to see the store name, the location, and their phone number (if they have one available) on our Store Locator list.

If by chance you’re not seeing a reseller in your area, but you know of someone who would be interested in carrying our product, please have them email in to orders@scottevest.com so we can see about setting up a wholesale relationship with them.

1. Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express credit cards. You may also checkout using your PayPal account or your Amazon account (but please note: promo codes are not accepted on any order using Amazon checkout).

2. I have a coupon code. How do I get my discount?
Just enter in your coupon code to the promo code field in your cart when you’re ready to checkout. Make sure to hit “APPLY”! *ONLY ONE PROMO CODE PER ORDER*

3. Will I get an order confirmation?
Yes, as soon as you have fully completed your order, you will receive an order confirmation email. Please make sure to enter in a valid email address, and if you see ANY errors on your order, make certain to write in to our Customer Support Team at sales@scottevest.com ASAP or call us at 866.909.8378! (Make sure to include your order number when you write in).

4. Will I get tracking information?
As soon as your order ships out, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number.

If you haven’t received your shipping confirmation number by the end of the next business day after you have placed your order, please double-check your spam folder (and make sure to add us to your Approved Contacts list). If you still cannot locate your shipping confirmation email, please write in to our Customer Support Team at sales@scottevest.com with your order number.

Questions About Returns and Exchanges:

1. What is your product guarantee?
We have a two year defective warranty period, covering such things as defective zippers, mis-stitching and certain other things. This does not cover general wear and tear issues (such as rips caused by catching your SCOTTEVEST garment on something sharp). We offer reimbursement for repairs and replacement of the defective garment (we do not do any in-house repairs).

If you experience a defective issue with your SCOTTEVEST garment within 2 years of your purchase date, please make sure to write in to our Customer Support Team at sales@scottevest.com. Include your order number, the name of the garment you are experiencing the issue with, an image showing the defective area, an explanation of the image (so we know what we are looking for), the 4-digit PO number on the white care tag sewn on the inside seam of your garment (the one showing the washing instructions) and your current shipping address. We will get back to you regarding a resolution.

2. What is your return and exchange policy?
Within 30 days of your original purchase date (60 days if the garment was a gift), we can accept your new, unworn (if tried on) SCOTTEVEST garment back for exchange or return. You will be responsible for paying the shipping to return your unwanted garment back to our warehouse, but we will cover the shipping cost for UPS Ground shipping for any exchange shipped out to a US shipping address. For returns, we will refund you the exact cost of the garment you returned when it is received at our warehouse.

In order for us to process your return or exchange request, you will need an RMA number. In order to request an RMA number, please fill out one of the forms below:

Please note: we CANNOT accept your return or exchange back in our warehouse if you do not have an RMA number! Additionally, if your garment is returned and it is not in NEW condition we will not be able to accept it back in our warehouse (we can either get it sent back to you or we can donate it to a local charity in your name).

Once we have received your RMA request (when you fill out the form, it goes straight to Customer Support) we will manually process your RMA request and send you an email containing both your RMA number and instructions on how to return your garment back to our warehouse. You may also find the instructions on how to return your unwanted SCOTTEVEST garment by checking out the backside of your packing slip.

3. My item was a gift, can I still return or exchange it?
Yes, you certainly may! Please make certain to fill out one of the following forms to request your RMA number below:

Form for a Return (US Shipping Address)
Form for an Exchange (US Shipping Address)
Form for an International Return (shipping address outside the US)
Form for an International Exchange (shipping address outside the US)

Include your own email address (since this is how you will get your RMA number). If you do not know the order number for your order (because the packing slip wasn’t included in your gift), make sure to include the name of the person, first and last, who gave you the gift.

For returns, we will refund back the cost of the garment to the person who made the purchase (sorry, but the money will go straight back to the person who originally placed the purchase - no exceptions). For exchanges, if there are any additional costs, you may either have the person who gave you the gift contact us directly to authorize the additional charge on their card or you may include your Visa, MasterCard, or American Express information to us to cover the additional fees.

4. What if my product is defective?
If you experience a defective issue with your SCOTTEVEST garment within 2 years of your purchase date, please make sure to write in to our Customer Support Team at sales@scottevest.com. Include your order number, the name of the garment you’re experiencing the issue with, an image showing the defective area, an explanation of the image (so we know what we’re looking for), the 4-digit PO number on the white care tag sewn on the inside seam of your garment (the one showing the washing instructions) and your current shipping address.

5. Can I return something that I bought from your outlet store or that was on sale?
All items sold through our Outlet Store are marked FINAL SALE and are not eligible for return, exchange, or even store credit - no exceptions.

If you have used a promo code on your order, unless your promo code was clearly marked as a FINAL SALE promo code (like LASTSALE2013, etc) your order will still be eligible for return or exchange - so long as you make certain to contact us within 30 days of your purchase date to request your RMA number.

At this time, all of our products are made overseas - primarily in China and South Korea.
